Smashing Idols was formed by Bob Mazzo, brothers Paul and Rich Newman, and John Kerswell in 2002. The chemistry of the band has produced an edgy sound with honesty-in-your-face lyrics.
Smashing Idols' sound infuses a powerful message of hope that will rock your world, your heart, your soul, and your mind for Jesus' sake. The music is real and unapologetically speaks out about the reality of Jesus in today's world.
Smashing Idols believes that when people come to see them, the truth of the gospel will shine through their music and that many will be truly drawn to Christ. Once people hear the music, there will be no doubt about who and what they're singing about.
In July 2003, Smashing Idols was one of the finalists in the Star 99.1 FM Sunday Night Live Battle of the Bands.
In June, 2004, Smashing Idols had the opportunity to be a test band for CNBC’s upcoming John McEnroe Show. The band was filmed performing their original music on the McEnroe set.
Smashing Idols also received a favorable review in the January 5 - January 12th 2005 edition of the Aquarian/East Coaster Rocker magazine.
The band is currently recording a full length CD.
